    Wow, Palin...

And she wonders why her children are in the media, because she drags them in there.

(CNN) ? This time, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has gone too far, Sarah Palin says.

The former Alaska governor is calling on President Obama to fire his notoriously coarse top aide after a report in the Wall Street Journal last week quoted Emanuel as referring to liberal groups in August who attacked the president's health care plan as "F-ing retarded."

In a posting on Facebook, Palin says the language is not only "caustic [and] crude" but deeply offensive to those with disabilities. She also compares the choice of words to that of the "N-word" in reference to African-Americans.

"His recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm's recent sick and offensive tactic," Palin wrote.

"Just as we'd be appalled if any public figure of Rahm's stature ever used the "N-word" or other such inappropriate language, Rahm's slur on all God's children with cognitive and developmental disabilities ? and the people who love them ? is unacceptable, and it's heartbreaking," Palin also wrote in the post Monday evening.

Palin's youngest child, Trig, was born with Down Syndrome in April, 2008.

Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver has also taken issue with the language, sending a letter to Emanuel last week asking him to join his organization's campaign to end the use of the word.

The White House has not commented on Emanuel's reported language.

    Re: Wow, Palin...

I don't think its so much that she drags her children into the news but I am sure that when he said that it hit home and angered her. That is very understandable when you are a parent. No one should be called that, I jump onto my brother and his son everytime that word comes out of their mouth. Having worked with the mentally challenged, I would say that most of them are smarter than people with no mental challenges.
What if he said they were all a bunch of N's (I hate that word to), would it still be the same argument? Black people can not help what color they are no more than some mentally challenged people can help that they are mentally challenged.

    Re: Wow, Palin...

She has done this from day one, she brings the one that has DS to rallies and mentions it pretty much all the time...one time that sticks out was with the "death panels", that Obama wouldn't care about disabled children or the elderly under the bill, that they weren't worth the care. Thats the kind of thing I'm talking about, what about the Letterman stuff? When she tried to spin it around like he was talking about her 13 year old daughter? This is similar, she took a comment that probably little heard or was offended by, then turns it into something HUGE to stay in the spotlight and keep herself relevant.

With that said, I don't agree with him saying it at all, you're completely right in that it was wrong to say. It was dumb, just like Obama's dumb comment about the "Special Olympics", but come on? To go as far to call for his job? I don't even like him, but that's a bit ridiculous.

No, he shouldn't lose his job but he should publicly apologize. Just as any of them should if they were caught saying something like that.
I'm not saying that she does or doesn't use her kids, but if she does just for publicity, she shouldn't. I am no fan of hers either or his or Obama's for that matter.

    Re: Wow, Palin...

Where does she bring a family member into it? I don't see that, I see her saying she is basically repulsed by the statement, as I'm sure many people are.

Are you saying that because she has a child with a disability that she shouldn't comment on it? that's a bit absurd isn't it?

    Re: Wow, Palin...

Figures the real bad guy in all of this is one of your heroes so automatically the person that calls them out on it gets it turned on them. And as I recall the fuhrer was the one that made a big deal out of keeping family and kids out of everything. She doesn't drag her kids into anything she does however bring her children with her on her travels and they get attacked. I hate people that don't disregard their family as they work to further their career.

Show me anywhere where Palin mentioned her own son when talking about this, the people dragging him into this are the press who makes it a point to say she has a child with down syndrome when they report the story...and just for you here is the statement she made:

The newly-released mind-boggling, record-smashing $3,400,000,000,000 federal budget invites plenty of opportunity to debate the merits of incurring more and more debt that will drown the next generation of Americans. Never has it been possible to spend your way out of debt. So... let the debate begin.

Included in the debate process will be opportunities for our president to deliberate internally the wisdom of this debt explosion, along with other economic, military and social issues facing our country. Our president will discuss these important issues with Democrat leaders and those within his inner circle. I would ask the president to show decency in this process by eliminating one member of that inner circle, Mr. Rahm Emanuel, and not allow Rahm?s continued indecent tactics to cloud efforts. Yes, Rahm is known for his caustic, crude references about those with whom he disagrees, but his recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm?s recent sick and offensive tactic.

The Obama Administration?s Chief of Staff scolded participants, calling them, ?F---ing retarded,? according to several participants, as reported in the Wall Street Journal.

Just as we?d be appalled if any public figure of Rahm?s stature ever used the ?N-word? or other such inappropriate language, Rahm?s slur on all God?s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities ? and the people who love them ? is unacceptable, and it?s heartbreaking.

A patriot in North Andover, Massachusetts, notified me of Rahm?s ?retarded? slam. I join this gentleman, who is the father of a beautiful child born with Down Syndrome, in asking why the Special Olympics, National Down Syndrome Society and other groups condemning Rahm?s degrading scolding have been completely ignored by the White House. No comment from his boss, the president?

As my friend in North Andover says, ?This isn?t about politics; it?s about decency. I am not speaking as a political figure but as a parent and as an everyday American wanting my child to grow up in a country free from mindless prejudice and discrimination, free from gratuitous insults of people who are ostensibly smart enough to know better... Have you no sense of decency, sir??

Mr. President, you can do better, and our country deserves better.

    - Sarah Palin

    Re: Wow, Palin...

She had every right to be mad just as much as anyone else with a handicapped person in their family. Someone in his position should know better than to say something like that.

    Re: Wow, Palin...

Let's be realistic, she didn't have to say her sons name, but to say "as a parent" etc. to get her point across. I never condoned what he said, I don't even like him, I agree with the apology idea...which I read on ABC earlier that he will be apologizing.

And Obama did say not to bring family into it, so I ask, who brought family into this? PALIN, his comment had absolutely nothing to do with her, hell he was calling liberal groups that.

This isn't the first time and last time she'll do this, she's done it all before, using the one with downs several times...then the shit with Willow and Letterman.

    Re: Wow, Palin...

There's no reasonable way she can be criticised on this. He shouldn't have said it, she has every right to comment on it. Simple as that. I don't believe he should step down or be fired over it and I doubt she expects that he will, but she has every right to express that opinion. In fact I think her statement as posted above is very appropriate and well stated. I honestly can't see how anyone could make a reasoned objection to her comment on it.

    Re: Wow, Palin...

Look at the beginning of what she posted..

"The newly-released mind-boggling, record-smashing $3,400,000,000,000 federal budget invites plenty of opportunity to debate the merits of incurring more and more debt that will drown the next generation of Americans. Never has it been possible to spend your way out of debt. So... let the debate begin."

Yeah, so concerned she jumps right into the budget.

If it were just commenting on what he said, I would have some mercy on her. But she starts up the talking-point machine and goes to town(misleading points at that.) Anyways, she goes on and then talks about what he said playing the pity game for her really, not even her son as much. This isn't anything knew, she's been doing this since the election and well after.

Here was one of my favorite...

"And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil." - Sarah Palin

See what I'm talking about? That's disgusting.
